Google apps access stops for future Huawei phones, beginning with Huawei Mate 30. Huawei’s Android license had been pulled temporarily amid the ongoing U.S.- China trade war that began earlier this year. Trading activities between Huawei and its U.S. based partners apart from Android; such as Microsoft, Broadcomm, Qualcomm and ARM also took a toll of the ban levied on Huawei by the United States. However; what looked temporary has at last been declared a permanent ban.
BBC posted a confirmation about the news which says that Google Apps and services will not be accessed by Huawei Mate 30 series which Google Play Store and Gogle Play services cannot be installed on these phones. Since China has Google services blocked anyway in its country, Huawei’s biggest lost in this situation will be the loss of its global market excluding China as everything now relies on its customers globally who would be willing enough to buy their phone without Google services.
Chinese entities that are facing a ban in the U.S. might still get certain exemptions from the administration however; in the case of Huawei, out of the 130 requests that were made to trade with Huawei, all have been rejected.
The relieving part is that the xisting Huawei smartphones will stay untouched by this news as they can continue accessing Google apps and services and receive Android updates as well. With the new phones that the company will launch in the future, it may very well look for an alternative to Google services. More importantly, the company can only hope now that its consumers are willing to make the change too. HarmonyOS, which works on a wide range of products and appliances including smartphones, has been announced by Huawei as an alternative. It might be the immediate solution for Huawei if U.S. does not ease off soon now.
